District of Columbia Stabilization Center
Program Philosophy
The District of Columbia Stabilization Center (“DCSC”), operated by Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI) in partnership with the DC Department of Behavioral Health, will offer immediate, 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, no cost, low-barrier access to Crisis Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services for individuals 18 years of age and older, regardless of gender, insurance, and citizenship status.
The DCSC will provide individuals experiencing an SUD crisis with person-centered and a recovery-oriented alternative to unnecessary encounters at emergency departments or interactions with law enforcement. The DCSC will ensure those individuals seeking or referred for services will receive an integrated and comprehensive care to address their specific needs in a supportive clinical and recovery-oriented environment.
Services
Medical Screening and Clearance / Stabilization / Support Services
Immediate personal needs being met
Comprehensive diagnostic assessment for mental health, substance use disorder, and co-occurring conditions
Referrals to appropriate ASAM level of treatment and recovery and additional services in the community to meet individual needs and their readiness to change
Care management and coordination to support consumers post discharge
Navigation, linkages and referrals to housing, transportation, social services, and other supports
Recovery coaching and consumer engagement services to address immediate personal needs
Providing alternative disposition to first responders for people under the influence of substances and persons presenting in crisis
Additional Program Information

CBI operates the DCSC using a traditional 23-Hour Crisis Observation and Stabilization model that is supported by an additional short term (72-hours) stabilization/respite services for individuals in need of additional monitoring and/or support.
All services are overseen by a Medical Professional and the operational and treatment milieu is supported by a team of Registered Nurses, Peer Support Specialists, Social Workers, and Patient Care Technicians.

Services are provided at 35 K Street NE, Washington, DC 20002. Screenings, peer support, and outreach services may be conducted off-site premises as needed.

The DC Stabilization Center is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. CBI Administrative office and Clinical Operations offices located at 750 First St NE #720A, Washington, DC 20002, are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
